I keep forgetting we have this group!

Today I got rid of approximately one half vanload of books and clothes.  Most of the books were Greg's, because he's very very brave, and I got him a Kindle for Father's Day. I got rid of a lot of my books, but still not down to the one shelf I'd like to be down to. Clothes are also hard, since I tend to change sizes frequently, but I was able to find a lot of things that I likely wouldn't wear at any size.

Anyone else shedding stuff?

We're also reading a book right now on simple living with children, and my hope is that it will help us show the kids how to have a good time without sixteen bajillion toys. I got rid of some things today while they were at daycare, and I could probably tote out another few boxes without them noticing....

We're shedding stuff! We're making boxes of stuff for a yard sale in July, whatever doesn't sell goes to goodwill/st vinnies/lighthouse for the blind.

Having to move everything in the house for the electricians just pointed out that there's way too much stuff!!!

Are you renovating, or repairing?

We had a garage sale two (three?) years ago, and then another one this summer, and STILL there's enough for several vanloads to the Goodwill.

We had our original mid-1940s era cloth wrapped, knob & tube wiring replaced with real live, grounded, wiring, now with added cable and ethernet! :) And I can make a shopping expedition out of anything--we got some new funky lights for the kitchen (which should ship next week), and new lights for the downstairs bathroom. I discovered, that if you want to, you can spend a lot of money on lights. :)

We nearly had an outlet fire last winter--didn't know it until we went to unplug something and found the charred remain of the outlet. It had been very hot.

The new wiring passed inspection on Thursday, so we can start repairing drywall. Whee fun!

But when you have to move everything you own away from the walls, you realize you have way too much stuff.

I'm shedding too...cleaning up a metric shite-ton of crap for having a house on the market means that the yard sale pile is getting bigger, and the donate to various charities pile is growing too.

In the meantime, open house on June 30th. Time to start panicking about how the yard sale stuff isn't organized in the basement, and is just a pile....
